A consumer unit may need replacing under various circumstances:

 – Age: If your fusebox is old, it might not comply with current safety standards, and upgrading to a modern consumer unit is advisable.

 – Safety Concerns: If you experience frequent electrical issues, like tripping fuses or overheating, it’s a sign that your consumer unit might be faulty and needs replacement.

 – Renovations or Additions: Upgrading when renovating or adding new appliances ensures the electrical system can handle increased demand.

 – Compliance: If your current consumer unit doesn’t meet current regulations or lacks Residual Current Devices (RCDs), it should be replaced for safety and legal compliance.
